Natural Anti Aging with Food

 In Blog

Training is great for you, but like everything else, things need to be taken in moderation.  Exercise is a stress, and too much of that stress can wreak havoc on your body. For those who train frequently, and participate in a lot of endurance activities (think running…..lots of it), the body is often exposed to oxidative stress.  Oxidative stress damages cell membranes and permits free radicals into the cell. Once a free radical gets in there, the cell becomes weak and damaged. This is where the anti-aging industry tries to cash in.

But here’s an anti-aging secret for you: You can “reverse the clock” per se this by getting regular doses of antioxidants.  A study done with spinach and blueberries (very potent in antioxidants) appear to reduce oxidative stress as well as improving cognition and memory in the brain (1).  You can get your antioxidants through fruit and vegetable intake – the darker, the better.  For instance, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries provide plenty of antioxidants to help repair the damage from exercise.  You can call it natural anti-aging, but here at UEFP we strongly monitor our client’s vegetable and fruit intake. All the protein in the world won’t make a difference if your body is missing out on key vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to help prevent nutrient deficiencies as well as promoting the anti-aging effect.
