Don't do the same arm exercises

If you want nice looking arms, then you need to get a little more creative than just doing some curls. There’s actually a vast array of different arm exercises that you can do, and you’ll need them if you want to build an impressive looking physique.

One thing that I love about being a personal trainer is that you get a chance to make an impact in people’s lives. So much so that it’s rare for a client to not ask follow up questions long after they stopped being a client. As I do a “question of the week” series on my Facebook page, I had a former client ask about different arm exercises she could do. This brought a smile to my face as I love to see my former clients still hitting it hard in the gym.

So in this series we’ll talk about the elbow flexors – which are three muscles that help bend your elbow. For simplicity sake, let’s just refer to them as the biceps. In most gyms you’ll see guys contorting their body in all sorts of ways to try and curl way too much weight. If they could put the ego to the side for a second, they could learn that:

-Your biceps need appreciable amounts of tension to grow. The means more emphasis on the arm muscles and less gymnastics with a barbell.

-In order to fully develop your biceps, you’ll want to do exercises in which your palms face up, face each other, and face down.

Besides those two things, there are also fun little techniques you can use to torture your arms. We’ll talk about grip width and how to torment the biceps in this video. Once you implement them, you’ll enjoy those nice arms of yours.
